Is Kiss Daniel A Flash In The Pan?

Kiss'able' Kiss Daniel.
The first time l heard the song, Woju by Kiss Daniel, it was through a colleague's ring tone and it fascinated me. Hard as it may seem to believe, l kept on calling my colleague's phone number just to connect to the song and have a good grasp of it because my Yoruba is bad. Though, l am a Lagosian by birth, l love Lagos so much, it's imbued with so many dramas especially as it retains its allure as the entertainment hub- as it concerns fashion, music, movies, comedy and dance. I love to watch from the background, critic if l have to but never hinged on malice or merely author my appreciation of some craftsmen. I have no excuse to make, do I just tell my editor that I have no story ideas for the week? No good journalist does that- in case you're not in the media. So, a reporter is forever hunting and sniffing around for stories.

Never mind my digression. It's to drive home a point. Back to Kiss Daniel, l love his name, it is so different and unique, looking at him closely, he does have a pair kissable lips (before you think I'm lusting after the new kid on the bloc, these are just my innocent observations o). He is so cute and maybe he grew up enjoying compliments on his 'kissable lips', hence his decision to storm the scene with the sensational stage name. His song is an enchantment too, if you've listened to it critically. Now, let me explain, his song is that kind of song you fall in love with 'at first sight' or abi na 'first hearing' such that you never stop kissing (playing), it is on a permanent repeat in your car or in your home. I've found myself often in this situation- when l like a song, l can buy up to 7 to 10 CDs because of the melody. When it crackers, l will pick up another one.
The song remains a thriller- much that you become curious and want to know the creative mind behind notes and tones.
An original start
Nothing charms more than when an artiste emerges in the scene with a fresh sound and a fresh style. I say all the time that, what makes a true talented artist stand out is the originality of his or her work. Even in the system there are lots of noise makers, we know them, l mean the ones that are not talented but carved their niche in the industry on hype, on their own, they can't even save their career by writing a song or play any kind of musical instrument. A lot of them loves and will do anything to grab the attention from the public and revels so much in that world called 'FAME'. I am not one of those people who are so blind or carried away by shallow presentation, l look beyond the picture presented.
There is no doubt the Nigerian music scene is saturated, so if you are going to come out with a song that must control the airwaves, becomes the rave club-banger and see the streets rocking, it must have an original identity and that is what Kiss Daniel has done with his grand entry to the scene. The boy is 'vexing' seriously. To me he is what l call a complete package. He's got the looks, his song is original, very street, very acceptable, it can pass for a wedding jam and above danceable to young and old generation. I've had an occasion to watch Don Jazzy speak of Davido with lots of fondness, clearly, he affirmed years back that the songster has got a place in the future of Nigerian contemporary music. Today, it has come to pass. Love or loathe him,    this generation has started kissing Daniel and will do so for a long time if he doesn't falter.
Who will endorse Kiss Daniel?
Why don't our corporate institutions deem it fit to endorse upcoming acts but only the big ones? It's time they started growing with these fresh talents. What use is the endorsement if you won't give his or her dreams a wing? And that is why l was so impressed when Korede Bello got the Woodin endorsement, no matter how big or small this money may come, these lads need every support from them. It makes them work harder. It spurs their creative factories to evolve more. Seeing Korede Bello on those Woodin billboards is a great delight to the eyes, it spells 'HOPE' for these great artists of tommorow. Kiss Daniel is a graduate but has decided to follow his passion in music and he is so damn original.
I heard recently that he paid a courtesy visit to MTN which was facilated by  Akpor Gbemre, Gbemre overtime has become one of the most sought after talent managers and top showbiz promoter in the country at the moment.
Apart from being a big fan and supporter of Kiss Daniel, he's bent on marketing him for a major brand endorsement.  Kiss Daniel's manager Louiza Williams, was also present.
He should also pay visits to banks, leading beverage companies other telecoms companies who are open to such gesture.  With the courtesy call, is Kiss Daniel getting his first endorsement from MTN? ln 2face' voice, 'if to sey na just me' at MTN, I'd give some of these guys my helping hand. There is no gainsaying the fact that MTN has contributed immensely to the growth of Naija showbiz, but more can still be done.
Through the second eye
Now this is me switching on my other mind- a pundit. My inner mind now pops a question, 'is Kiss Daniel not going to end up as one hit wonder, a flash in a pan?' I remember a lot of good music sung by good artists with an original feel, but ended up as a flash in the pan, like Jodie's Kuchie, Deebee's Collabo, AY.Com's Pass Me Love, Bigiano's Shayo, X-Project Lori Le, Jhybo's Run Their Mouth, Infiniti's Olori Oko to mention but a few. The list goes on. These guys were original and made waves with the songs but who knows what actually went wrong.
I hope and pray Kiss Daniel is going to be different because l also hear he pens his lyrics unlike most other acts that freestyle. He has a unique voice and delivery, that he effortlessly dishes out. He is extremely talented and he is very young and fresh.
